2021-08-11 19:56:27 +0000 UTC View PostMorning!! I'm starting a new routine today. The whole day is scheduled out in time blocks based on the 80/20 rule. Experimenting with daily life routines to optimize energy flow! So worth it. Today I just kicked it off with meditation, a walk, podcast with IFS therapy, writing thank you cards, and a workout. Now I'm going to go make my smoothie, journal, serve clients and then head to a yoga class. This afternoon I'll be recording new videos for you!! What does your favorite most energizing morning routine look like?? What's the most vital part? βπ»π love, cha
2021-08-09 16:28:07 +0000 UTC View PostMorning!! ;) time to move! -- first, I'm sitting like this for 5min, stretching my knees before my workout. I've been so sore each morning (mainly legs and feet) and I suspect it's the wood floors I'm walking on all day long. So before I get moving for the day, I've been sitting in gentle(ish) poses...this is gentle for me but intense for most...to warm up and loosen. Long holds (stretching for more than 1min) really help with tightness as we age...tightness that comes from tissues getting dried out....like literally the tissues of your body are drying out like a leaf...movement & stretching helps lubricate them. ππ»β love, cha

2021-08-07 04:03:17 +0000 UTC View PostSun Salutations π I woke up this morning feeling sore. You? My legs and feet have been the most sore and I think it is because I've been doing cardio barefoot on wood floors plus weight lifting. So in the spirit of gentle recovery I am flowing in Ashtanga primary series this morning. Here are a couple views of this flow ;) this is an amazing warmup wakeup for the sore body. I always feel so much better after, looser and lighter. β love, cha
2021-08-05 16:48:52 +0000 UTC View Posthey love :) check your messages -- I'm sending you a full length "strip yoga flow dancing" video, in color, and clothes are coming off! LOL The studio is humid this time of year; a little PNW greenhouse. When I blast the music and start flowing around on my mat it becomes a hot yoga studio and I'm sweaty AF. ;)
2021-07-22 23:24:55 +0000 UTC View PostI woke up in my studio this morning and turned on some Justin Bieber & Billie Eilish to kick off the day. They aren't my favorite artists BUT this song is hard to hear and NOT move. I feel stiff when I wake up. Moving is difficult. This is always a sign that I need to be doing more yoga. When I'm doing yoga everyday it's easy to hop out of bed and get straight into dancing through life. But lately, I've been enjoying being deep in my mind and emotions, taking photos, going on dates, eating dinner on the rooftop and generally avoiding pushing myself physical or spending large chunks of yoga time. What really helps is playing music RIGHT AWAY. The moment I wake up, the music goes on and it helps encourage me to start moving, even just a little bit. It lifts the mood and I'm a human animals so it doesn't take much for me to want to start dancing. If you've been having a rough time warming up in the morning, try blasting the music through your bones. Love, Cha00

2021-07-09 17:32:11 +0000 UTC View PostDo you enjoy watching these yoga flow videos like this? I post a snippet of it on social media and save the full length, unedited, unfiltered version for you guys. It's more real and personal. If you like it I'll post more. If you prefer shorter or more polished edited videos let me know. Of course, I can give you a little bit of both...just checking in ;) --- in this video I had fun just being alone in my studio, rolling on the floor, stretching, watching myself in the camera to see how long and pretty I can make my legs look. Honestly, it's kind of terrific being in my body right now. I'm feeling healthy and beautiful. I love watching my body move and play. My shoulder strength has returned after two years of rehab (I hurt my shoulder on the stripper pole and made it worse while lifting). So I'm just thrilled to be able to move and hols myself up again. Anybody else celebrating body victories right now? We must cherish these moments when we feels good. We must remember them when we are going through the shit. So happy you're here. πβ Love, cha
2021-07-08 16:06:08 +0000 UTC View PostI've been avoiding yoga...it makes me feel things. I've been focusing my attention on making music, doing photography and running my business. I get so into my cerebral work that I almost lose interest in my body. I'm focusing on ideas rather than bodily sensations. This can only go on for so many days before I start to feel like a slug...heavy and uninspired. So I know I have to crawl back to my yoga mat eventually....eventually the discomfort in my body grows so great that I just have to stretch it out. A few days of this pushing myself to just do it and then the body softens and I remember how amazing I feel when I'm all stretched out. I feel free. And then I can't get enough yoga. What does success mean to you? This past year, for me success has meant that I'm doing lots of yoga, preferably outside in warm weather whenever I want. My own schedule, enjoying my own body. I know stretching is tough to get into. When I feel intimidated by it, I give myself permission to just do it for 60 seconds. It seems to grow naturally from there. Don't force, just feel. If your body hurts too and you know you need to stretch but don't feel like it...just try a little bit wth me while you watch this video. π Love, cha

2021-06-04 23:58:42 +0000 UTC View PostStretching was a big part of my childhood -- my mom was a gymnast and I was in ballet class every day. Everyone around me was constantly stretching...for fun. Then I grew up and noticed the kids complaining about stretching in PE and the adults avoiding stretching at the gym. It made no sense to me. Especially at the Olympic lifting gym I used to go to -- guys would finish their reps and then stand there doing nothing in between. Meanwhile, I was stretching. By the end of my workout, not only had I lifted but I was also stretched out. Everyone else, felt burdened by the fact they HAD to stick around longer to half-ass a few stretches. Nobody, every took me up on my suggestion to interweave stretching into the lifting. You don't even have to stretch the muscle group you're targeting with weights. You can alternate days so while you're lifting arms, you're stretching legs (which are probably sore from yesterday's squats). If you're lifting there really isn't much downside to stretching every chance you get because your body is getting tighter everyday. You're tightening yourself up on purpose. All that gorgeous muscle but it'll become useless if you lose your mobility. For the past year I've been going heavy on the hamstrings & glutes. So to balance it out, I'm focused more on forward bending and stretching out my hamstrings. It feels like medicine that actually tastes good. My body craves the stretching. I'm always curious to discuss this with people though. I'd like to better understand what stretching feels like for someone who didn't grow up doing it much and what might help you get into more. :) Love, Cha
2021-05-31 00:25:25 +0000 UTC View PostA NOTE ON PLEASURE: My body seems to be capable of feeling pleasure in many different ways. I discover more about this body as I age with it. There is the pleasure of bliss on my back at the end of yoga. The pleasure of the zephyr caressing my cheek in the sunshine. The pleasure of my legs sliding up and down bed sheets to wake him up. The pleasure of chocolate melting on my tongue when I have the patience. The pleasure of remembering a childhood. And the pleasure of looking in the mirror is entirely something different. Careful it not be too cerebral or it becomes almost clinical; picking apart reflections. Better to look out the window at the world than to stare into a mirror. The mirror tricks us into thinking there is pleasure in appearance. There is only pleasure inside. In the mirror, I stare into my own eyes until I break through to seeing my friend. I smile at her and she smiles at me and I tingle. The mirror is beautiful for a moment, the moment just before I close my eyes and drop inside my body. I have to be inside my own body for life to flow in any pleasurable way. -- Love, Cha --- And you?

2021-05-25 16:27:01 +0000 UTC View PostI'm obsessed with my wall. Wherever I live, I always paint the wall orange. Technically, it's called 'Tangerine Twist' LOL I painted my first orange wall when I was in high school. My childhood bedroom faced east so it was filled with gold every morning when the sun rose. The walls amplified the glow and I was sold for life. It gets me through darks days of winter and makes bright summer days all the more glorious. Do any of you guys have a special feature in your home like this that brings joy? :)
2021-05-13 00:51:49 +0000 UTC View PostSunday morning at my condo....the look on my face is so serious when I'm composing / improvising / fucking around on the piano. It's a type of art therapy. My mind is wandering off somewhere. I'm staring out the window thinking something I can't remember now. It's just nice to have something pretty to do with my fingers while I wake up. The sound of the piano keys floats in the air and it's a strange type of meditation. Watching the video I realize how my face might look sad or dark. Often when people see me like this they comment, afraid that I'm not happy, wanting to change my mood. No thank you. Life is up and down and all around. You see me bouncing around happy and now you can see me looking serious and deep into the universe. All may exist. All parts are welcome. Speaking of parts...does anybody know about IFS therapy? Get nerdy with me if you do! Love, Cha
