What do you think about this body paint? π
Yesterday I shot with Christophe Boussamba! It was so much fun π we put on some funk and soul music and the shoot was filled with laughter and even some dancing πΆ
We first got some very pure shots and slowly dove deeper, into some more playful posing and finally we got some paint and I got to paint my face in front of the camera... I think those shots will be really awesome π
Also in that video you can see a great example of me waiting and then "switching it on" as soon as the photographer is behind the camera again.
Even though I experience it myself and I know that that happens I find it very interesting to see it like that and see that instant change...
Some stills from the nude yoga flow video you can find in your inbox π
Felt sooo good to be moving my body again, especially outside in the sun β
And behind me you can see a bunch of our vegetables and medicinal flowers growing happily! I feel like me practicing next to them also helps them grow πΏ
As you might know I have been fascinated with making these little videos and I am probably happiest with this one so far!
I finally got an option to use a drawing pad for my computer again and added a little self drawn animation to the end of this video :)
What do you think? I am already super stoked to create more animations again like I used to when I was in high school
Two more little sneak peeks from the shoot with Myscha Orèo, through the viewfinder...
We shot for about 5 hours so there's so much to share... πΈ
It doesn't happen with everyone that time goes by so fast and effortlessly, but when I find photographers with whom that happens, I always try to work a lot with them and use all opportunities I can get.
Because those shoots often also create the most interesting images and you just get sucked into this amazing creative process, building ideas on top of each other and it just takes you so much further than what you had planned beforehand.
One of the photographers I have that with is bayek, he also supports me on here as well :) and after each shoot we both just tend to be super filled up with new ideas and enthusiasm and jusy pure passion for creating... It's one of the best feelings and it's a big part of why I love doing this so much π
Couldn't wait to post another few shots with the kimono π I'm just so in love with everything about it! The color, the embroidery, the painting in the background... π
Just love love love what we got from this shoot
A phone image through the viewfinder of myschas rolleiflex
Isn't it gorgeous? π
We posed it in front of a huge painting myscha made herself and it really brought out the energy I was hoping for, highlighting the beauty of the kimono and the intricate craftsmanship that's needed to create this kind of garment.
In a way I intended these images as an honoring to my ancestors, since this kimono is the only thing I have from my grandfather π
What I'm working with today π
My grandfather brought this kimono from Japan back to Germany in 1972 and some time ago it was passed on to me for safe keeping
I've been waiting quite some time now for the right occasion and photographer to photograph this with. I really wanted it to be something unique and I find Myscha Orèo was the perfect fit... And we did truly take some amazing images today
I'll post a little preview soon π
I really love playing around with costumes and makeup and bringing out these different characters π
People often tell me that they are amazed at how versatile I am, how many different looks I can have. Sometimes I'm this super strong person and other times I'm silly, or peaceful or reverent.
I feel I'm able to bring out all these different characters, because to some extent they're all part of me. I recognize them in myself and can easily step into that mindset and atmosphere.
It's a great practice for myself and actually teaches me so much about myself. Because often you have to be really open and honest and bring out something that's real, because otherwise the image won't very powerful.
And then adding on a costume to that, only makes it more powerful. You cannot let yourself or the character be represented merely by the costume or the makeup and maybe have to put more effort even to still bring the presence so that it is the character wearing the clothes, not you wearing a costume...
It's all very fascinating for me to think about and play with...
Did you know I also offer prints of my self-portrait work? As well as my photography work (if you have not seen what I do behind the lens I recommend you check out @noa_the_photographer on instagram)
I have decided that everyone that subscribes to my page here will get 20% off of all prints they buy from me :)
Let me know if you're ever interested in one <3
Lena also photographed me today! π I had so much fun, first playing in the water and then using this rose fabric as a background and light diffuser... I love how it gives this soft glow to my skin β πΉ
Another little view of the wonderful day we had with Maarten Koch, as well as a secret sneak peak of one image we created π€«
Do you have any questions about what the process is like on a day like this? Im curious what you're curious about π
Lena took this beautiful video of where we were shooting today and I must say it was such a pleasant awesome day... You can really see in the video how content I am π
Things are coming together so perfectly at the moment and I'm just forever grateful for all the beautiful people in my life π and all the opportunities that are presenting themselves....
What do you feel grateful for?
You guys are also a big thing I feel grateful for! So THANK YOU π
Can you believe it was the first time Imar van Riet did nude photography? I'm truly impressed by the beauty and quality of the images we created yesterday π²π
He also built this studio entirely himself and hand painted the gray background π
From yesterday's shoot with Imar van Riet
I had a really great time working with Imar! It was the first time he was photographing someone nude and so far he's mainly had experience in street photography as well as some portrait work, but he actually did really well and behaved very professional. I'm already so excited for the images! π
Today I'm also getting a visitor π her name is Lena and she's a model as well (@schattentanzeule on Instagram). We met because she contacted me when I was in Berlin last and asked if she could photograph me βοΈ
She's going to be staying with me for a few days and we already have a few projects planned (including a wet plate collodion shoot!)
So stay tuned
During the quarantine I got asked a few times if I was interested in doing FaceTime photoshoots... Most of the time I declined but these are from one of the two times that I said yes π
They're by Alvaro Rodriguez, someone whom I've had contact with for a long time.
Initially we had actually even planned that I would go visit him in Spain, but then with the lockdown that didn't come to fruition, as did my plans to go to Greece and France... So we decided to do a shoot through zoom π
I'm still not sure when Alvaro and I will get a chance to work together in person but I'm really happy to know that at least my projects in France are going to become reality soon. There's some awesome big projects coming up! β
A few little preview-images of the 15 minute sensual flow session @juliagoma and I did for our online life drawing class :) If you want to see the full video, check your inbox ;)
Something about this image is very gripping to me π
But in all seriousness, I really like this image, the tension and hardness of how I'm grabbing myself, but then at the same time it seems like a desperate embrace, a need for love and affection β€οΈ
I see something pulling close, while also pushing away...
I always love contrasts like that in an image. Especially if there's a sense of discomfort, but still it's so beautiful. I think that's also why I find the theme "finding grace in discomfort" so interesting. Not just in the images but also in LIFE
The result of today's little session... I think the location is nice, but I didn't feel very inspired with the poses today to be honest. But I did enjoy myself π so all is good
Getting messy can be so fun π and beautiful
During this shoot with Bimagona I got to play with some different fruits π π who else likes sweet and sticky?
A few phone shots from yesterday's shoot with Myscha OrΓ¨o β
It was so lovely working with her, because it was just really relaxed and comfortable. We freely went back and forth between photographing and chatting over a glass of lemonade or a cup of tea π
It was the first time I met her, but it felt pretty quickly like we were just friends, hanging out together πΈ That's always an ideal outcome of a shoot, paired with the knowing, that you created some wonderful images β
How are you planning to spend the weekend?
Experimenting with something new today π these two videos are just little tests, not quite how I want it yet, but I'm definitely excited at trying it!
I used some oil, Sirup, flour, food coloring and honey π― I think just flour and oil would do as well with some food coloring, but I was experimenting with different consistencies and "droopy-ness"
It's also something that I can't do very well by myself, so these test videos will help me, to explain to models how I want it in the future.
There will be more soon! π
I'm curious to know what you think of this?
I can't tell you how excited I was to finally show you some content from this shoot! π π
It happened back in March when I was visiting London and is the most professional shoot I've had so far! This included a fitting the day before and a team of six people for the shoot. For comparison, usually its just me and the photographer. Now there was someone for hair, someone for makeup, a photography assistant (in one of the images he was just in the process of videoing of me) and more...
It really made me feel like maybe someday I can be a proper professional fashion model! π
The photographer, Jack Eames, does a lot of hair campaigns usually and the day after the shoot I actually saw some of his work around the city, which really made me think, wow that could be me!
