Today's instagram uncensored... I am genuinely very proud of capturing this on film as a selfportrait and really want to make some prints from it... I feel it would be beautiful as a real life thing instead of just something on my phone
I have come to this spot many times lately, both to shoot selfportraits as well as being photographed there by my partner... now I'm kinda feeling like I should do a compilation of all the different outcomes.
This one is taken by my partner but I have another set of images that were taken on the same day and they're all selfportraits but shot on two different sets of film stock, and I feel its quite incredible how different the outcomes of it are...
Moreover I also came here a lot last year and the landscape itself here has changed a lot. Initially there was a huge boulder right next to where I am posing here, that got washed away not that long ago in a big storm, its reshaped the entire river. I love seeing how my photography changes and evolves in these spots that I keep returning to over and over again...
Unless I am forgetting someone I have shot here with 7 different photographers and models already over the last year and every time the outcome is completely different than the time before...
One of you asked if I had any more rope pictures and I felt it's the perfect occasion to show you one of my new analog pictures I just received back from the lab ☀️ theres a just couple more so let me know if you want to see them, by tipping this post
Another little gem from that analog set I sent to your inbox recently ☀️ this one was a portrait that I really loved but the rest of the set focuses more on other parts or full bodies. I loved capturing the subtle glistening of my skin after holding the shower head over myself in one of the images
Exploring new spots is now done in the early morning hours to avoid the groups of summer tourists as well as the spanish heat. I didnt have my camera and tripod with me here but I am set on returning and capturing the magic of this gorge
The set is here! And I am in love with it just as I had expected... This is probably the most tame of these images. There is one I personally really love where I am holding the shower head over me and my body is completely glistening!
Coming to your inboxes now :)
Guess who FINALLY received her film!!
I am over the moon!! They are so stunning and intimate and even though I have taken them myself I am in awe and in love <3
I think I might send 2 or 3 as a renew-on gift later today :) But for now here is a sneak peak of the negative scans
Another analog selfportrait
Can you see the water droplets on my chest? Unfortunately they are a little bit hard to see because of how the light falls. But I like that you only notice them when you pay closer attention to the image
I know this might be super random and not related to my art at all, but it's been forever since I last practiced anything handstand related (I have never been able to do it without the wall for more than a couple of seconds) and I really want to get into it again
Wouldnt it be cool if I could do some selfportraits upside down or so?
In general I have been trying to work more on my physique to be able to push myself more in what I can do in my photos... and also to hopefully at some point get some more definition in my body.
I love my curves but I always feel I lack a bit of definition to make certain images just a touch more expressive
I am still rescanning old analog films, since I have a better setup now and can scan my films in much better quality and it is so enjoyable because I get to appreciate some of my own work once again... Like this image of me in my old garden... some of you might have already seen these but if you would be interested to see more, tip this post and I will send you accordingly to how much you tip
Aaaah yesterday was so amazing!!!
I currently have so many projects waiting in line to be developed or that are currently at the lab and I'm waiting for them to send them back so I can scan and edit them... theres so many things I created recently that I think are going to be extremely beautiful and which I am so curious to see how they turned out!
Analog film is definitely one of those things that really ask for your patience, especially if you dont have a lab close by and have extra time added to everything because of the postal system
A little behind the scenes time lapse of me taking analog selfportraits at the beach.
I have been so impatiently waiting for this analog film to return from the lab... but it's taking forever. I had initially planned to show you the video together with the final photos because I think it's very interesting to see what it actually is, that I am doing.
Usually the videos of me taking analog selfportraits might be a little confusing to most people I think, because I spend so much more time setting up the shot than anything else. In the end I am in my pose just for a few seconds and otherwise I am walking around, setting up the tripod and camera and thinking and imagining in my head what will be the next shot, so it might be less interesting to you, than seeing the final photographs
Finally got around to editing this little video for you guys ☀️ it's only a short one this time (~3 minutes) but I really enjoyed myself that day... the weather was really hot and being able to cool down in this river was heavenly 💧
Tip this post 7€ or check your inbox if you would like to see the full video of me playing around, but especially of me relaxing in the water
AAAH I am so excited to share this set with you!! Remember the time-lapse I sent a little while ago, as a gift to those of you that have the renew function on?
Well now the pictures are here from that shoot!
@the_riel_emma and I filled a whole roll of medium format film with double exposure self-portraits. This is a process where you expose the film twice and have two images on top of each other. So it basically gives us the opportunity to pose as 4 people instead of 2, or to play with really interesting layering...
It is only a fairly small set (10 images in total) but it is already very dear to my heart and I actually think Emma and I should have prints made from it. What do you think @the_riel_emma ?
Pros of living together with another photography nerd and having analog cameras lying around everywhere, you always get the best moments with the best light...
@the_riel_emma and I recently created an art reference set.
It was so fun to play with these dramatic painterly poses! We tried enhancing this by also dressing up Emma as the fairy/elf that she truly is on the inside... I can already envision all the pieces of art that could come from this photo set, but I think that even if you aren't an artist searching for inspiration, this set is interesting to you. It is very expressive with a good load of flair and drama!
I wonder what story you imagine when you see these images... How would you caption this one for example? I could see a whole story line of Emma being a holy and mythical creature and I have come to her temple, to offer her my devotion and swear my alliance
I have been working on an analog selfportrait series that to me feels very inquisitive into my being, my personality and perhaps my beliefs as well. A series that is searching for something with an edge to it, something uncomfortable even at times, something that pushes and expresses...
I'm often not sure yet what it is. I am chasing a feeling that is very subtle and nuanced and somehow buried within myself. The feeling definitely has to do with the darker side of emotions... hence also why I am using this very contrasting and rich black and white film for it. I feel it suits perfectly for the mood and atmosphere I am trying to bring forth
I am definitely curious, to see where this series will go and what will come out with it. One thing I know for sure is that it feels therapeutic and freeing to work on this series, little by little...
This sunset light today was magnificent 🥰 I couldn't help but play with my movement and position trying to find the best way of it falling on my body, how the shadows would highlight my curves and the minimal light would caress my skin...
If you want to see the full short but sweet video I took here, before I out away my phone and grabbed camera tip this 5$ or check your inbox
These are from a day where there was still snow on the mountains despite the heat down in the desert already. We were just playing around and running through the snow and playing with my dog and it was just so free and joyous... Days like this are always such precious memories to me
A little behind the scenes image from a project I did a while ago, with a literary friend of mine... I really enjoy, when I can collaborate with friends from different mediums and see how that affects the outcome, since they often approach projects from a different angle
I have a little gift for you!!
I was reorganizing some of my images (as I do frequently) and found these images from last year that I shot on experimental film, which turned everything blue. I was intrigued by it but even when I shot it i didn't totally love it. However, today i re-edited them in black and white and I found some real gems! A whole bunch of images I never even edited before because they were too dark etc.
I am so happy that now and then I go through all my pictures again... I honestly shoot so much, that I always end up forgetting parts of what I made and then when I rediscover it, its like a wonderful little surprise...
