Omg I'm dyinggg! My death bed chatty chat video. I have a cold. In this video, Seed round and Series A round venture capital - if you care. And there's boobs. In a Seed round, it's usually less than ~$5 million and comprised of angel investors, venture investors who put up $100,000 to $500,000 each to total the Seed round ask. I do not like working with angel investors. They're usually retired successful corporate leader types who retired with a nice sum, now they want to play investor. They'll give me their business "wisdom" CONSTANTLY but they don't know shit!! They know how to successfully navigate a corporate world to the top, and start-up world is NOTHING like that. They get on my nerves but if they give you money , they think that entitles them to dispense their "wisdom". They usually don't have anything of value for a startup entrepreneur. I recommend they take up golfing in retirement instead After you build the company and its probably starting to sell product and earn, now it's proven, you go to Series A round, maybe $20 million to $100 million to scale it up and blow the doors off. I'm debating making my raise so high it keeps angel investors away but maybe isn't a full blown Series A. Those are the types of questions I'm currently debating at my desk (while I bemoan the fact I can't purchase a man to use for sex and store him under my desk to service me - I'm an oddball milf that way😆)

My day so far.😆 Actually, I had a ton of communications on my new company: investors, advisors, key men. Specifically, the way I progress is to pitch one person until they are a true believer. Then 2 things happen: they go off to pitch my idea to their network, and since that person is a trusted advisor to that network, my story is already accepted there. Then, I go to my next convo and refer back to "Joe is on board", that tells the next person "hmmm...if Joe is on board, I feel good right away" then I give my pitch to person 2, and repeat. In this way, I build a very powerful team that will all be rooting for me (because it'll be their money inside, they WANT me to win)...but more than that. If I am pitching an idea, it's because I believe in it. Truthfully. I'm not faking anyone out. And all I'm doing is saying "do you see what I see?". And generally, because I'm experienced and may consider and throw away many ideas because I truthfully can't say to myself "I believe that's a winner", when one finally comes along and I poke at it for months trying to find a weakness and I cannot? Ok, now I believe. And others will too In fact, in a venture capital pitch, the VCs will throw all kinds of barbs on why it won't work. But I've already thought of all of them and more. So when they say "it won't work for this reason", and I say "yes, I considered that possibility, but look here how you navigate that issue..." That's what VCs are actually probing on - have you thought of it? And if you have, what will you do? And when they hear all the right answers, they're like "I will bet on this PERSON, they are skilled"

Ok, some inside baseball on pitching a company, and a never-before-heard story of one of my past companies I founded in agricultural technology, for livestock (mostly cattle as that's the money). And I'd spend my days in saleyards and pastures with cowboys and drink whiskey at the saloon afterward😆 Just some background on that venture: all laws that apply to cars? They apply to cows too. They're registered, they can get tickets, they can get impounded, they can get seized. And if a cattle truck is pulled over, the driver has to have all the license and registration for each head in his truck. All inspectors (and all lawmen) would do all this work by pen and paper and big registration lookup books. It was super inefficient and generally out of date, and could not receive revenue at the point of contact My company built the systems that were all server/mobile based so law enforcement could look up records on the spot, seize cattle rustlers (yes that's still a thing😅) and take registration money on the spot from a rancher out of compliance rather than seize his cattle which is a hassle. It was probably my most fun company ever.

Hump day chat. I have a charity event to go to, theme is 80's - do you like my dress? And my HR lady is excited about my new company, now I have to close some venture capital investors and get going. We'll see... By the way, on TV or on Shark Tank, it's often presented as the founder of a company begging and submitting to the investor "oh please sir, perchance shall you give me money?" But that's not how it is in real life. In real life, venture capital people - especially junior people - must maximize what's called "deal flow". They must see as many start-ups as they can, it's a core metric they're measured on, if their deal flow is low, they're fired. They must beat the street constantly looking for potential deals to invest in and get them in to the VC firm for others to look at. So they're under great pressure to hear me (or anyone with a reasonably feasible proposal) Plus, it's a conversation and a story telling. They're not going to be mean to me or grill me (like you sometimes see on shark tank). I'm telling a story of a possible future vision, and if they can see it my way - believe in my story - then the projections and financials and backup info is somewhat secondary because everyone knows that's a best guess and likely to change anyway. I'm gifting them an opportunity, I'm not subtracting their money, they know that. And I'm not faking them out with a "story". It must be believable and the best way to do that is to tell the truth. The truth sells itself. And my story is my perception of what I think the future truth is - if they believe that truth as well, they'll bet on me, not on what's in my slide deck. Anyway...just some blah blah on entrepreneurship. Is that interesting or boring?
