A long day of traveling yesterday and I’m loading up content from our quick getaway to Mexico. Some afterthoughts now that our trip has concluded.
If you’re traveling internationally, I highly recommend just going with a carry on and whatever you can fit in your personal item. You’ll not only wait less as customs, but you also will bypass check in when coming back to the US. The baggage check line was at least two hours long and we walked right past it to security.
Global Rentry. Get it. It’s the best money we’ve ever spent and it comes with TSA Precheck. The kiosk scans our face, confirms our identity, and we walk right through and there’s never a customs line.
Vanilla resorts. We went to a RIU which isn’t the best one to go to, but it wasn’t terrible either. We won’t be returning to a RIU ever again just because we’ve been spoiled by other resorts. And by those resorts, we mean primarily Desire resorts which have pretty decent food, great entertainment, and fun parties and games. Not to mention, we didn’t enjoy seeing all the “main characters” making fools of themselves or just snapping selfies all day every day. There were far too many college students there for this to not be a resort for spring break. And although people were nice, it didn’t have the same vibe as a lifestyle resort.
This absolutely was a bonus vacation we hadn’t intended to take, but we’re only 6 weeks away from one we’ve been very excited for in Jamaica! It’s a “hybrid resort” that has a nude beach (not clothing-optional, there’s a difference) that allows pictures in the early morning and evenings as well as a regular, beautiful resort. Rumor has it there are a lot of 🍍 there, so we’ll see I guess!

First off, we had a total blast! This group puts together the best lifestyle hotel takeover parties in the Midwest hands down. It’s super chill and relaxed during the day so you can hang with people and have good conversations and then the party is amazing at night! Topless pool parties during the day, some food and alcohol included in your ticket price, and a TON of couples that are all so friendly!
We made a lot of friends and we tend to not play with people the first time we chat.
