๐ฅ 3 tips to win a gold medal ๐ฅ
1. consistency
once you finally land a jump, it can be pretty exciting! however, itโs truly only the beginning. being able to be consistent with your jumps and land them every time you attempt it is crucial to winning a gold medal. a jump is only as good as when you land it in competition! keep practicing so that everytime you attempt your jump you are engraving the motion into your muscle memory and you are landing it consistently before attempting in a competition.
2. endurance
although a figure skaterโs short program is only 2 minutes and 40 seconds long, a skater is executing a number of jumps, spins, and footwork sequences throughout the entire program. a skater needs heavy endurance training to be able to push through the entire 3 minutes without stopping or catching their breath.
3. confidence
when you go out to compete, are you smiling? does it look like your having fun? these are elements that judges are looking for during your performance! on top of all of the figure skating elements you are expected to execute, a skater is also expected to entertain the audience and make what theyโre doing look easy. even if you arenโt confident, fake it! you never know what can happen in those 2 minutes and 40 seconds!
๐ THE SCORPION ๐
the scorpion is an advanced figure skating move that can be done in a spin, or gliding on the skaterโs flat edge! this move requires a lot of back flexibility, so be sure to practice stretching your back every day continuously before fully attempting to complete a scorpion.
itโs always a good idea to practice moves off the ice so you can get a hang of the move before trying on skates. you can practice by doing the yoga move, dancers pose. lift one leg behind you grasp your foot or ankle with the respective hand. lift your foot as far as it can go, and reach forward with the opposite hand. once you are very comfortable doing dancers pose, then you can attempt to attach your opposite hand to the rest of the pose.
here are two back stretches that i would do every day to get my back flexible enough to complete a scorpion:
1. bridge
start laying down on your back with your knees bent and feet flat on the ground. place your hands on the ground next to your ears with your fingers pointing towards your shoulders. push up so that your back is arched, and try to straighten your arms and legs, your body should look like a rainbow! hold for as long as you can, and then gently come down by slowing bending your arms and legs.
2. lay back
try to find a ledge or table that is at least your hips height (figure skaters often use the hockey board for this stretch). with your feet together and parallel, hold onto the table or ledge and arch your back. push your hips forward and let your head hang back, going as far as you can go.
it โs best to hold a stretch for at least 1 minute to increase flexibility, however please go at your own pace and listen to your body we never want to injure ourselves ๐ค
๐ EP 1: THE ANATOMY OF A FIGURE SKATE ๐
https://of.tv/video/630546eddd65ea0001b0a722/
My first episode of Eris On Ice is live on OFTV! in todayโs episode, I am teaching you the anatomy of a figure skate. Itโs very crucial that you understand the different parts of the blade and what they do, as each figure skating element is driven by a different part of the blade. This will make it much easier for me to explain and for you to understand how to execute elements in my upcoming videos โบ๏ธ
au naturel on this rest day โ๏ธ๐ taking rest days is important too โจโจ
itโs imperative that we allow our muscles to rest and recover from any damage theyโve sustained during a workout. this will allow them to grow and help maintain good health and fitness ๐ช๐ผ
kicking off the weekend strong with another pilates class ๐ช๐ผ are you working out today? pilates is a huge part of figure skating training! you may not think about all of the other sports that figure skaters take part in to benefit their training.
pilates and yoga are used to help exercise a skaters flexibility. flexibility and mobility are so important in a skaters training as there are so many different moves that require flexibility in a skaters back and legs. other activities that most figure skaters do in addition to their figure skating training are:
pilates, yoga, cardio, endurance, strength training, stretching, and different kinds of dance classes such as ballet, jazz, and lyrical!

something you may not know about me is that i have been competitive figure skating since i was 2 years old. as iโm getting older and entering my adult years, iโm searching for more passions and hobbies that genuinely make me happy. figure skating has always been one of them, so i have decided to take u along with me as i rediscover my passion for figure skating and teach u some basic moves and tricks along the way :)
iโll be posting weekly figure skating videos on my OFTV titled โEris On Iceโ ๐. be sure to keep an eye out for when my first video drops! im super excited for this new chapter in my life and i hope u are too ๐ฅฐ

if you know me, you know streetwear is my thing! i always feel most comfortable in streetwear, so i love to try to mix streetwear trends with different kinds of outfits and styles to make the outfit my own and truly feel like myself.
i paired these sleeves that have been trending in the streetwear scene with my bikini and a pair of sunglasses to give the overall look a โcool girlโ vibe. i feel like itโs a different look compared to most bikini looks iโve been seeing this summer. what do you think, how did i do? ๐
and can we get some commotion for the back of the pants ๐๐๐
iโm obsessed with the denim gucci detailing on the back pocket of these cargos. the contrast between the denim and the cargo gives the pants a playful mis-matchy vibe. you know what they say, itโs all in the details baby!
i paired this outfit with the sports glasses from amazon. iโm not one to spend money on designer sunglasses, i donโt know about you but i ALWAYS lose or break my sunglasses. so i prefer to wear sunglasses that i can easily replace ๐
OOTD ๐ค
are you getting sick of the wrestling suits yet ๐ because clearly i am not! theyโre my favorite go to outfit on a hot summer day. the comfort is unbeatable!
