I woke up quite early yesterday and decided to use the time for some pilates before heading to breakfast. The rest of our group joined me for breakfast, and while I was finishing my meal, one of the receptionists approached our table, asking about the check-out. I assumed she wanted to sort everything out a few days ahead since we leave on the 14th of March. However, to my surprise, she asked me about our departure time for the day. "What do you mean TODAY? We are staying here until the 14th of March."
To make a long story short, I had messed up the reservation – I somehow forgot the date of our departure. But that wasn't the worst part. The real problem came when we discovered there were no available rooms in the hotel or any other nearby hotels with reasonable prices. We began quickly searching for alternative accommodations while packing our stuff so the hotel could prepare the rooms for next guests.
In the end, we found a large villa hosted by a private owner that was just big enough for the whole group. I hadn't had any expectations, thinking it was only for four days and that we found it so quickly it might not be great. However, when we arrived, it looked surprisingly good and was not far from the beach. To top it off, we had our own pool. So, I guess this little fuck-up wasn't so bad after all, and at least we had a bit of adrenaline. 😊
