I told my ex about my foot fetish early on in our relationship. I figured honesty was the best policy, and at first, she seemed cool with it. She even let me give her foot massages and would send me pictures of her feet when we were apart. I thought I was lucky—until things started going south in our relationship.
During arguments, she started throwing my fetish in my face, calling it “weird” and “gross.” One time, in front of her friends, she even made a joke about how I was obsessed with feet. It was humiliating. After we broke up, I heard from mutual friends that she exaggerated things and made it seem like I was some kind of freak. It messed with my confidence, and for a long time, I felt ashamed of what I liked.
Now, I’m in a new relationship, and I haven’t brought it up yet. I don’t want to go through that again, but at the same time, I don’t want to hide who I am. I just hope that when I do open up, my new girlfriend will see it as just another part of me, not something to use against me.
