**Merry Christmas!** π Yes, you hear that right π and no, Iβm not drunkk π (despite the heaps of wine and cherry liqueur - Π²ΠΈΡΠ½ΡΠ²ΠΊΠ°) I had today ππ· Today is the **Orthodox Christmas**, which is the one observed by my mumβs side of the family π₯° so we visited my grandparents and had an elaborate traditional feast prepared by my grandmother β€οΈ There was: - **Ρ ΠΎΠ»ΠΎΠ΄Π΅Ρ** π² maybe the weirdest dish out of them all for the non-familiars. Itβs a garlicky soup that sets as a jelly and a true master is meant to achieve this without any additional gelatine, simply due to the cartilageous meat used for it (e.g. roosterβs crest or pig skin) - **chicken in dough** π my grandmaβs special! chicken thighs and wings cooked inside a crispy dough dome. My dad jokes that the reason he married my mum is to be able to have this at least once a year at Christmas (and if heβs lucky at Easter too) - **Π³ΠΎΠ»ΡΠ±ΡΡ** π₯¬ more common around the world as vine leaves - and an array of pickles, including **pickled watermelon** π home made noodles, roasted potatoes and other delicious things I adore and always look forward to Of course, this was also topped up by a lovely cheese platter to honour our French side too π Overall I had a beautiful day to mark the end of my stay home as Iβm leaving tomorrow π₯Ί I am a bit sad about this of course, but on the bright side, this means a return to more *traditional* posts ππ
