They sail away from Sorong for many weeks at a time. I had no idea what was going on or what laid ahead. I was just soaking in all the new information, faces, voices. Right away, I was told the men were all shy, I needed to cover my skin, I was expected to help out on the boat and contribute to the team, that we don’t play music on board usually or do anything that brings our Western culture into the local area. They try and have as little impact as possible on the local culture, just coming in to help the coral grow and teaching locals how to take care of the coral. I walked into their work, their floating office. We had business calls and team meeting, Zoom calls around the world, people coming together to restore coral reefs. Right away, it was boiling hot, uncomfortable and cluttered. I arrived into a construction site. They were painting the boat. Arnaud had hoped that all this work would be finished before I arrived but his estimate was pretty close… just two more days of work before we left for Raja Ampat. 🫧💕🌴
