How would I know for sure what damage I left in my wake? We don’t talk about emotions like that in my family. I love my feelings. I deal with them all but not in front of my family. I tried a few times. It didn’t go well. It ended in my frustrated tears being hastily mopped up by my mothers almost awakened hands. She wanted the tears to stop making her uncomfortable. Let me cry. I told her my tears meant I’d dug deep enough inside myself that I’d struck gold. Golden insight. Golden truth. Let the tears flow! After that, she let me cry in front of her but I still felt her discomfort when my emotion poured out of my eyes. I wonder if she felt helpless.
