Sometimes I hold an old painting in my hands, darkened by time, with peeling paint, and I think: who painted it? Who once owned it? Whose fingers touched its edges, whose eyes admired it in the candlelight?
Restoration for me is a way of speaking to the past. A way of telling the world that even things that seem forgotten can shine again. Like people. Like feelings.
We are all “restorers” in a way - of our emotions, our dreams, our lives. Sometimes all it takes is to gently remove the patina of the past to see how beautiful the present can be.
