Written by the legendary jazz choreographer & dancer extraordinaire Bob Fosse, it details flapper women imprisoned but having celebrity status as a result. The show is known for its catchy jazz tunes and fringed, beaded, glittering flapper costumes which dazzled the stage becoming the pattern for what is instantly recognizable today as “flapper dress.” While the originals of musicals are often the best version, I actually really love the 2002 film which is fantastic. I’m wearing a 1979s handmade costume flapper dress from a now-defunct old New Orleans costume shop which was run by the son of a very famous Los Angeles costume shop that did the costumes for some of Hollywood’s most famous classic movies. 🎥 🍿 🎶
