The Gin is in the Bin, the Wine is down the Loo, I'm going Sober for October, but with a difference, and I need YOU! During lockdown I had a little spare time on my hands, so I started volunteering for my local Foodbank, I had heard about these guys, and the good they do, but now I was about to see it first hand for myself. The team selflessly and tirelessly put their time, energy, heart and soul in to making sure that no one and I mean NO ONE in our community goes hungry. And I'm not just talking about it being for Covid, these guys do it every day, every week, every month, every year. They spend hours either talking or typing on their phones arranging donations, and taking requests and referrals for help. Then driving around collecting donations, taking them to storerooms, sorting through them, organising them, portioning them in to food parcels, (sometimes with very specific dietary needs) and finally delivering them to the front doors of those in need. The entire operation is run on Love, a whole lot of it, sweat, tears, less sleep than is healthy, stress, kindness, the most genuine heartfelt compassion I have ever seen in my life and of course, donations, whether they be in the form of food or money. Funding comes and goes, sadly. Unlike our daily need for food. And the Foodbank continues on, no matter what. So if you can, please support my chosen cause, while I ditch the bottle and give my liver a break, because these guys are awesome and need all the support they can get. ❤😘
