Added 2024-11-24 01:23:06 +0000 UTCSprained ankle and disheveled/bed head pour today lol sorry for the background TV (Indiana vs Ohio state was on so couldn’t mute lol it was an important game!)I was supposed to go help babysit nieces and nephew but I could barely walk so I just spent most of today laying down, elevating and icing my ankle. I was on the phone w my mom for a couple hours. We were reminiscing about our family coming to the states 16 years ago and all the sacrifices and hardships we endured together. My mom told me that every morning she woke up and told herself she was a soldier going into battle before her 1.5 hour public transport commute to work everyday for the first 4-5 years of us living in the States 😭😭😭 she was a single mom and even though she was highly educated with 2 masters degrees and a PhD, had to start from scratch as many immigrant families do. It was a very emotional phone call but we are just so grateful to have our health, have each other, and have survived and endured what she calls “rock bottom” 😭😭😭I can go more into detail about my family and what we went through some more in the future but I’m just so grateful that despite everything, my mom single handedly my raised two great children (my brother and I), both smart (we both graduated as valedictorians of our high school - he’s 7 years older than me though) and both went to college with full ride scholarships and graduated summa cum laude. She has a lot to be proud of despite not having much and I just wanna work hard so I can retire her and take care of her. 🥺💕Anyway sorry, rant over, lol.
