Happy Sunday! I hope y’all had a great weekend!! I spent mine at home relaxing for the most part, as we are on lockdown again here in Oregon so what else do I have to do? I however was not alone... Instead of sharing my ass today, I have an exciting announcement, I found the cure for my loneliness! After losing Priscilla in July I suffered from a grief unlike any I have ever known, I have been experiencing petlessness real hard! I thought not having a pet to worry about while traveling for work might be the right thing, but after almost a whole year without traveling and with Oregon being on lockdown again, I have decided I just can’t do it any longer! While I’m still grieving, I feel it’s time... A few weeks ago I spent hours online looking at all the cats available for adoption in my area. I went to bed crying over all the kitties that need homes. I wanted to adopt them all and finally be the crazy cat lady I was meant to be! There are so many being re-homed currently because of the covid housing crisis. It’s so sad! However I was able to narrow it down to a few I was interested in for various reasons and after talking with my mom, I made a decision. I decided to adopt a senior cat because everyone wants a kitten and the older ones get passed over more because they come with issues already, usually behavioral or health problems. So many people can’t be bothered with the care of a senior cat and just want to get rid of them, which is so disheartening! As Priscilla aged, I found myself loving her even more. I wanted to absorb all the moments because I knew they were not going to last forever. I just wanted to give her the respect and love she deserved as she aged. So I adopted a new kitty!!! Her name is Maiz, she’s 12. She has no known health problems and is a total sweetheart and cuddle bug. She’s an indoor lady only, and was just looking for a forever home to continue out the rest of her days in peace. Her last said she was abandoned by her owner of all the years about a year and a half ago because they just didn’t feel like having cats anymore and wanted to go out more(gross). That lady wanted to keep her but was recently diagnosed with cancer and has to move, unfortunately she could not keep the cat. However she wanted to make sure she went to the right situation. Lucky for me, I’m the right situation! She’s still super shy and skittish as I am a complete stranger to her and my house is a strange new environment, but I just hope she’ll love it here. She’s warning up tho! She still hides a lot behind a chair in my bedroom but I wake up and she laying on me or she’s buried in a kitty cave under my covers. I’m already in love and it’s only been 2 weeks! I really can’t wait for cat cuddles again!!! If you are experiencing petlessness or have room for more, please consider adopting a new pet, there are so many babies both kitties and seniors needing new homes right now. It’s a great time during lockdown to give a new pet the attention and time it needs to settle. Plus it’s getting cold out, pets are the best lap warmers and cuddle buddies! #justdoit Unfortunately tho I leave for Florida for a week on Tuesday, a trip I had planned pre-kitty, so I’m feeling guilty about leaving her so soon. I know it’s going to set us back a bit. I’m going to miss her!!!
