My mentor showed me how to create Turkish burma early this week (Turkish style “baklava”): 💛Start by thawing your filo dough paper - it has to be thawed enough or else it may crack 🤍You can create flat or rolled desserts 💛Melt two sticks of butter (plant-based or regular you decide chef!) 🤍Take walnuts & crush them with a coffee grinder or food processor 💛throw them spread out on your paper, then roll your paper, we used a cylindrical tool to aid in the process 🤍Scrunch the beginnings of your burma together by the ends and pull off of your tool if using one, make it tight 💛begin lining a flat tray - once you’ve repeated the above steps you can drizzle your melted butter evenly - & heat the oven to 400-425 degrees (will bake until golden brown for 16-22 mins - bake times may vary) 🤍cool your creation either by a window or in the fridge as now you are going to pour sugar water that is also hot & boiling (1/4 cup of sugar cubes & 2 cups water more or less) because if both items are HOT the burma will get watered down & melt - so one should be cold & one should be warm 💛pour evenly on your burma when ready - you can add agave or other syrup! Do NOT use honey, as this is too rich for the dessert & not the Turkish style 🤍Add pistachio crumbs as a final garnish if you wish & enjoy with tea or coffee! 🍵✨
