***Snipering is my field apparently.*** I wonder if I actually persuaded it where I would be rn 🙈
First time ever with a real sniper too! Thankfully this one didn’t lag at all ahahah! Also, finally someone told me what a gun’s lag is called…
In my case, due to a lot and frequent usage (and probably not the best maintenance) it’s called jamming.
But I’ll add all the other cases and definitions to each one:
Misfire; the gun fails to go off due to a bad primer or improper (ie, too light) drop of the hammer/firing pin.
***Jam;*** something (usually the cartridge itself) is improperly aligned or otherwise stuck, preventing the gun from firing. This is most common in tube-fed, manually operated guns like pump/lever actions (usually a result of an incomplete cycling action) or in automatic weapons with a belt feed, but it can absolutely happen in normal self-cycling weapons.
Hangfire; typically the result of old (expired) ammunition, the gun doesn't go off right away, basically a delay between pulling the trigger and actual ignition. This is why you never look down the barrel.
Squibs; usually a manufacturing error, like a cartridge missing part or all of its powder charge. May simply not go off, or not go off with enough force to drive the round fully out of the barrel. DO NOT attempt to clear by firing again.
