The inspiration was flowing. It sat on the wall next to the front door of my apartment until I moved out in September 2020. It's been sitting in storage at my family's house since - I stumbled upon it as I was doing this self shoot and thought I'd take some photos with it. The cut-out was too perfect not to. When I painted this, I could have never have imagined that just a few years later, I'd be making art with it once again - this time, in the midst of making my dream life a reality - a life I was still only dreaming of when I painted this. Full (or semi-?) circle moments 🧡 Fun fact: I have small rectangle tattoos on my back and behind my ear that were both inspired by the same pages in the book that inspired this painting.
