Learn to love yourself, be kind to yourself, truly get to know yourself so you can radiate love and kindness rather than hatred. It’s a little darker than my usual motivational tidbits but I heard that and it struck a chord in me. The things we hate about others are the dark sides of ourselves that we hate, often unaware. That is called our shadow self. When we talk about shadow work, it means we dig up the deepest trenches of ourselves that we’ve long hidden away in an effort to protect ourselves (because even though we hide it from ourselves, it spills out onto everything we interact with or experience or our relationships) and allow ourselves the space to grieve and heal. It’s hard work. It’s hard taking responsibility or acknowledging those parts of ourselves we don’t want to see. But it’s necessary to truly feel happiness.
