For the first time in my life, I'm not. I truly almost died. TLDR: story time via Twitch VOD will be uploaded to YT soon! Subscribe now to stay up to date 😘 Quick summary - A "family-friendly", 8-mile, day hike turned into a 22-mile/25 hour hike. We set out from the trailhead at 4:40am Sunday morning and immediately descended down 4 miles of switchback trails. The golden Aspen leaves were absolutely breathtaking as I watched the sun rise. At mile 8, our friend, who planned the hike, said he might have underestimated the length of this hike! About mile 10, we turned around because we wanted to avoid hiking out in the dark. As it would turn out, we did have to hike in the dark. I navigated us to about a mile away from the trailhead when I lost the path. Hypothermia set in very quickly and the ground got very damp before it froze over. Alpine Rescuers found us at about 3:30am.
